Evolutionary Design of Aging Tests (EDOE) |

- Background
- Evolutionary Design of Aging Tests is the procedure used to design the experiment for
accelerated aging tests of rubber materials. The procedure assumes the correction of the
final design with the help of short term preliminary tests and there for it is called
evolutionary design of experiment (EDOE). Procedure of EDOE consists of three stages: preliminary
design, correction step (steps) and final design.
- Preliminary design is constructed on the base of information about material, that
is input by user in the table titled Material Information. After that user obtains Prior
Test Recommendations including test temperature and two test times. Test temperature
may be decreased with special button Change Prior Test Temperature. After
conducting aging under conditions, that are close to the recommended ones and measuring
elongation at break (ELB) , these results (including initial values for unaged samples)
should be input into the table, titled Testing Results. There should be not less
then 5 samples for each term of aging. The Designed Value of Elongation at Break in
the table Material Information is recommended to set not less than a half of the
initial value of ELB.
- The correction step(s) may be required when values of ELB do not fall in the
course of aging. Then it is necessary to conduct additional test at Time 3
appearing in the table Prior Test Recommendations and etc. The procedure assumes
not more than three such corrections.
- Since all corrections have been done, the final design can be performed. For
these purposes user inputs required temperature and number of tests in the
table titled Accelerated Aging Tests Design and obtains designed times. These are
optimal terms for aging at this temperature and for measuring mechanical properties. Value
of ELB that is close to the Designed Value of Elongation at Break will be achieved
in the end of designed schedule of tests.
- Installation and Application
- EDOE software is a spreadsheet solution which has a form of Excel template named
EDOE.XLT. It may be used under Excel version 7 (97) and higher. For installation the
template unpack downloaded file EDOE.ZIP and place EDOE.XLT into Template
folder

- To begin application of EDOE software one have to create new XLS file based on this
template and fill it with required material information. Then document should be saved as
a workbook. After aging and testing of the samples this workbook should be opened again
and work may be continued.
- License
- EDOE spreadsheet solution is a shareware software, its application is regulated by the license agreement. The Agreement and Order Form are placed in the
EDOE.XLT file. Demo version has no distinction with registered one except the term of
application.
This demo version
will be in operation mode till May 1, 2010.
